Empire is characterized fundamentally by a lack of boundaries: Empire’s rule has no limits. The concept of Empire posits a regime that effectively encompasses the spatial totality, or really that rules over the entire world. No territorial boundaries limit its reign.

Forces which contest Empire and effectively prefigure an alternative global society are themselves not limited to any geographical region. The geography of these alternative powers, the new cartography, is still waiting to be written—or really it is being written today through the resistances, struggles and desires of the multitude.

Aurora
a sewn video

Aurora is a video compressed through a PNG image processor, transforming 8:10 minutes of film into 5,497 individual images. Each frame was individually stitched and set to .04 seconds.

The subject of Aurora is a patchwork quilt created by my namesake Gloria. Aurora grapples with questions of hauntology, and laborious craft.
